Harmonic mixers are available up to 600 GHz and balanced mixers to 325 GHz. A range of sub harmonic mixers are also available up to 325 GHz. In general, harmonic mixers are used for low cost spectrum analysis, balanced fundamental mixers for optimum performance, and sub-harmonic mixers at the highest frequencies where LO power is difficult or costly to generate.
